School Closure During Severe Weather Conditions – February 2021
Dear Parents / Carers
During severe weather conditions, we make every effort to keep the school open for as many children as possible. However, in some circumstances, following completion of a risk assessment, we may decide that it is necessary to temporarily close the school. Reasons may include:
Reasons may include:
• Too few staff members can reach the school, or advice is issued against travelling
• Risk of injury to pupils, staff or visitors due to the weather conditions
• A failure of the school’s heating systems
In such circumstances we will always attempt to give parents and carers advance notice, but due to the unpredictable nature of some weather events this may not always be possible.
The decision will be made by 7 a.m. and posted onto our website. The school will inform you daily by email if the school is closed to your child.
It is your responsibility to ensure that we have your current contact details, including email address. Please contact the school to update your details as a matter of urgency.
If you do not hear anything from us, the school will be open. Should you wish to check reports of closure, you can do so by visiting the school website www.ripplevaleschool.co.uk where you will find up-to-date information.
It is your responsibility to contact the taxi company directly to inform them that the school will be closed.
I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding. Decisions to close the school are never taken lightly, but unfortunately may sometimes be necessary for the safety and wellbeing of the school community.
