Ripplevale School promotes a nut free environment. A child has joined our school who suffers from a nut allergy and so it is vital that we communicate the importance of both staff and parents and carers adhering to this policy.
Children with a nut allergy can suffer life-threatening consequences if they come into contact with nuts, either through ingestion or through touch.
All parents and carers must not send any food into school either for packed lunches or for treats with nuts in. The School will ensure that no nuts are used during Food Tech classes and in the preparation of School Lunches.
Examples of the items that we do NOT want children to bring to school either as a snack or in their packed lunch include:
In general, on food products there is a section that contains allergy advice. If this says that it ‘does contain nuts’ or ‘may contain peanuts’ then we DO NOT want you to send these products into school. Many product labels say that the product ‘may contain nuts’ and this tends to be manufacturers being cautious, so these products are allowed to be brought into school.
We would ask that all parents adhere to it for the safety of all children. If there are any issues that you feel arise as a result of this policy, please do come and see the Head of School to discuss them.
